 Participants will explore tactile and kinesthetic activities across phonemic awareness, word reading and spelling, fluency, and vocabulary, while also developing skills in progress monitoring and data collection to ensure instruction remains targeted and effective. Emphasis is placed on empowering educators to customize their instruction without compromising the integrity of structured literacy — and every participant leaves with a bag of practical, ready-to-use multisensory tricks for the classroom.

Super Silly Sight Words

This engaging professional development experience builds educators' accuracy, automaticity, and fluency in teaching the reading and spelling of irregular words through a deep dive into the science behind sight word instruction. Across two focused blocks, participants will explore what a sight word truly is, how the brain stores words, and how to establish a baseline and apply targeted strategies for both reading and spelling — including mnemonics, multisensory practice, and spelling word inventory.
